Cozy indoor seating, outdoor space, free WiFi, and easy parking. It’s the kind of place you pop in for a quick coffee and end up staying for an hour.

2. Caffe Mercato

Family-owned and tucked into Menifee Town Center off the 215, Caffe Mercato has that neighborhood coffee shop energy that’s hard to fake. The horchata latte alone is worth the trip — but honestly, the pistachio and Oaxaqueño-style lattes are right there competing for the top spot. They do breakfast all day, panini, pastries, and the kind of service where you feel like a regular even on your first visit.

3. Tribe and Trail Coffee

Tribe and Trail started as a passion project in 2019 and has grown into a beloved local staple. They’re a mobile coffee and event cart operation — so you’ll catch them at pop-ups, markets, and local events around the community. Follow their Instagram to find where they’re showing up next. Supporting them is supporting a small, local business that genuinely loves this community, and that matters.

Murrieta

4. Rival Coffee Co.

Rival is the real deal. They roast their own beans, make their syrups in-house (vanilla, brown sugar caramel, lavender, cookie butter — yes, cookie butter), and turn out craft lattes and shaken nitro cold brews that can hold their own against any LA coffee bar. They also do brioche donuts and breakfast burritos, so you’re covered morning to afternoon. Located just behind Murrieta Mesa High School with a drive-thru option. Highly recommend the nitro cold brew if you need to hit the ground running.

5. Rise to Grind

Rise to Grind is a local gem that doesn’t get talked about enough. They’ve got an iced cookie butter latte that’s dangerously good, plus specialty options like mushroom coffee for anyone who’s been down that rabbit hole. Two locations in Murrieta, approachable menu, and a laid-back vibe that works whether you’re there for a quick pick-me-up or a longer work session.

6. Chapel Coffee

Chapel Coffee is unlike any other spot on this list — and that’s exactly why it’s on here. It’s a nonprofit café where every dollar goes toward Lily Kelly Ministries. But don’t let the mission distract you from the coffee, because it’s excellent. The outdoor space is massive (half an acre!), there’s room for kids to run around, live music most Friday and Saturday evenings, and a gift shop. With a 4.8-star rating and nearly 200 reviews, the community clearly agrees. This is a perfect weekend morning spot.

7. Proper Bakery + Cafe

If you haven’t been to Proper yet, this is your sign. The coffee is solid, but the breakfast is what keeps people coming back. We’re talking loaded breakfast burritos, kolaches, jalapeño cheddar buns, and freshly baked pastries and cookies daily — real, made-with-care food that hits different than a drive-thru grab. It’s tucked into a business park off Jefferson, so it’s easy to miss if you don’t know about it. Now you do. The vibe is cozy and unpretentious, parking is easy, and the quality is genuinely impressive for a neighborhood spot.

8. The Press Espresso

24619 Washington Ave STE 102, Murrieta | Mon–Thu 7am–7pm, Fri 7am–8pm, Sat 8am–8pm, Sun 9am–6pm

If you care about the craft side of coffee, The Press Espresso is your spot. They’re running a La Marzocco espresso machine — which is the kind of thing that matters — and their baristas back it up with beautiful latte art and well-pulled shots. The Murrieta location was recently remodeled with expanded seating. Extended weekend hours make it one of the more flexible options if you need a late-afternoon caffeine save on a Friday.
